Burp, Fart and Fog

Thank you for joining me again! Let’s get to the rest of the story

Burned out!

After going through burnout from just having the WRONG TEAM with me in this MLM (remember we are on #4 now). I could not deal…and I felt like a failure. Now, put this into perspective. I was an executive director (pretty high up in the company) and yet, I still felt like a failure. I wanted to feel like I was not shoving people into my downline just because so many would fall off! It was like chasing a rabbit! I knew I would never catch it like this!

I would watch people come in and get so excited. They would follow the “system” and it would work for most, but some got nowhere! It was hard to help them because there was a “system,” and it was what everyone used.

The ones that saw success would eventually hit a wall and would often find the rank they achieved slipping away.

But wait, I forgot…. the rest of the story!

I totally forgot to tell you the beginning…. how did all this start? I was fresh out of the military and newly married. I had my daughter after trying for so long. I had worked and was a manager at a Walmart in the fabric department *sigh*. Oh, how I love fabric and quilting and such.

Okay — sorry, I can drift at times. Don’t you do that too? *blink blink*

So, there I am, taking care of the house and my daughter, sewing, and thinking, I wish I had something that was mine. I need a side gig to support this love of fabric. I need a side gig to get things for the house that I want.

A friend called and asked me if I wanted to go to a Tupperware party. O.M.G — was I hooked!

I knew I could sell this stuff! (Burp —get it, Tupperware Burp — hehe) I mean, I lived in Ga, humidity and boll weevils and all sorts of bugs!?! Where do I sign up? I am getting a van!

Modular Mates Tupperware

I rocked the Tupperware and came up with great things to do at my parties. We did not have the internet to get creative. But creativity was in my bones!

One day, I had my biggest party booked. She already had 3 parties booked from it too. I was so excited because I had been practicing my best sales moves ever! I was waiting on my husband to come home to watch our daughter. I called him, where was he? I was starting to panic…did something happen to him? Was he hurt? Why was he not here and why was he not answering his pager?

The crazy thing was, we only had one car. He had a work truck and generally drove it home. The day before, it went into the shop. We decided that I would not take him into work because I had a lot to get done. He would drive the car to work, then come home to watch our daughter while I went to the party. I would fix dinner, go to my party and be home probably after she was in bed.

Totally doable…right? But he forgot. Then he committed to a side job and left me hanging. I could not go to my party because I had no way to get there. I called my host and told her that I would not be able to come.

Now, picture this…. I am literally THIS party away from qualifying for the Van (Tupperware had only the van option back in those days). And I had no way to even get to the party because my husband did not come home with our only car. I sat and cried for days…. DAYS!

I was embarrassed. My host was mortified. I lost all the bookings too. There were over 40 people at her house, waiting on me to cook and do my thing. I had food that I bought. Oh, it was a total mess! I just could not trust that I would be able to make it to parties because it was obvious that my husband did not support me.

Shortly after this party disaster, I ended up getting a divorce. This is the fart. The ones we call silent and violent. No one knows they have happened or are in the room until it slaps you in the face!

I found out that my husband had a girlfriend and THAT is where he was that night…. not a “forgotten side job.”

Well shoot….I have to tell you the rest tomorrow.

I have to give you the 🤫“dirty secret” I promised and the golden nugget

Here is my golden nugget for the day…the files we touched on yesterday. These files take up precious time every day! Today I want you to look at your email. Sort things and add folders.

Here, let me give you an example. You KNOW I love to cook, and I am trying to refine all recipes to a keto friendly recipe for people on diets and my diabetic friends….and my booty too (😉*wink*).

So, I am on the mailing list of recipe emails. I get Better Homes and Gardens and Martha Stewart and others. They can be as bad as Pinterest at times if you dive into them too much. I have set up folders in my email. They are labeled, Keto recipes, Martha, BH&G, etc. I do not read these emails or even look at them when they come in. I set a timer of 15 mins and sort my email every night. I drop them into the folders and don’t read.

Sorting emails — time saver tips

I go through my other emails, and if I find one that I am like, who are you?! I look at it, good/bad…. if bad, I go to the bottom and hit unsubscribe! I do this until the day is cleared out and sorted, flagged, or read. If I flag something and leave it, that is something that I need to follow up with, so it is top of mind.

Then, if I have time on the clock, I will dive into one of the sorted folders. If I find I am not getting good content, I will go to the bottom of that email and unsub. If I find good content, like a recipe, I will open word, copy and paste, and save in my recipe folder. I do this until the buzzer says, you are done. Then I close my email.

I put 1 hour in 3 times a week to dive into these folders deeper. But I give myself only 15 minutes to get through the email of the day.

What I find is that I am so much more productive, and the world is not lost because I didn’t go look at that casserole that looked amazing. The bottom line is that, before I would have looked at it, read the ingredients and said, man that sounds good. Then what, left the email in email land, right? Then, if I remember, I would have to dig for it later.

I did that with Pinterest for years. I created so many posts that I was ranked in the top 20 on Pinterest for activity and pins at one time…. sort of sad…lol. But the craziest part was that all those pins were hard to find! It is like throwing a million papers on a table and finding that one! ARGH!

I love using word to organize notes and everything. I will share my sorting tips in an information overload world with you tomorrow!

One of the “dirty secrets” your upline doesn’t want you to know is that they try to make it look like they have a life, but they are buried deep in poo. They are often spread thin because they don’t know time management. These things are not taught to you. We are supposed to be superheroes, don’t you know? Go to work, take care of the home, work the side gig and have no life. For the guy, there is a ton of pressure on supporting the family and then feeling alone because you are not supposed to feel weak or defeated. Love the fact that you have a job, dude! Buckle up buttercup! For women, super mom, super wife, super homemaker, super job, super student…. all of it, some of it…heck — no wonder people pay so much for coaching these days! The crazy thing is, most of it is BS! I will get to this topic too!

I used to be a coach and I look back now and realize why I was good at it. I never served crap to someone. The cook should always have to lick the spoon of what they serve to others, right!? On that note…

Tomorrow I will give you another “dirty secrets” that your upline doesn’t want you to know!

For now, I have to bounce…

Be your best and don’t copy your upline!

Cheers,

Stacey
